drinks all round for the coming festivities.
I havent had time to be on the site with xmas.
but we did get chance take the truck out.
and it goes well. but its not without its faults.
I had a right job start it after two das of it standing
it chuffed a bit of smoke out and was ok.
im thinking oil is leaking into the cylinders.
do you think i can claim on warranty?
the clutch may need replacing as it is very close to the floor (the bite is)
other than that its great on fuel good fun and i love it.

If it has stood a while, and the smoke is mainly white, I would suggest that air is getting into the fuel lines.
First place to look is the fuel filter, if new and poor quality, these tend to let air in.
After that, check for fuel line links, all the way back to the top of the fuel tank.
But if still under warranty...

If mine stands for say a couple of weeks, I expect it to start first time within 1-2 seconds on the key. It has done so for nearly 18 years too, since new.
So it should after 2 days... Get it checked.

Also the glow plugs on these fail, and starting with say 2 out of 4 failed makes it difficult to start, and can cause lumpy running for a few minutes, until warmed up.
Easy to check, see down load section.
Hope this helps,
Best regards, Rustic

yup depends of the colour of the smoke i think , but good advice above :thumb2

thanks peeps.
I paid my money and took my choice.
its started ok latley but i have started it everyday.
it does run lumpy at first for a bit so i will get glow plugs first.
he stated it had been serviced. you know what garages are like.ill check the filters too.
the clutch doesn't seem good at all.
if you take your foot off the clutch while in neutrel it chugs quite a bit like it may be the release bearing.put you foot back on the clutch it stops and like i say the pedal is quite close to the floor too.
i will also check the fuel lines.
other than that the thing goes mint with lots of power, nice and comfortable,no great big vision blocking window pillars giving good all round vision.
a great sence of safty on the road.and it doesnt squeek anywhere.yippee.
every motor ive had has had squeeky brakes, interiors suspension (you get the picture)and this is realy quiet
steve

re the clutch, put your toe under the pedal and flick it up, if it comes up to the stop then the little plastic bush on the master cyl push "U" has probably worn to nothing or the spring on the pedal has failed, to test the clutch itself, hand break on full, foot on clutch, select 5th gear right foot to the floor, slide left foot of pedal, engine should stall, if it does clutch good, if engine slows then starts to speed up renew clutch asap, Rick

oh and rattly gear box on idling, do not worry about it, mines been doing that for two years and I tow heavy regular, Rick
