3 weeks into my trip to Morocco and the Patrol has been awesome. It has taken everything in its stride and some of the terrain has been very challenging. More than 2000 photographs taken so I will have to work out how to load some of them. However with 600 miles of motorway driving to SAntander I have developed an intermittent screech fro the rear driver side wheel with some heat. Believe it is the handbrake binding. Is there a fix that I can do orwill I need to find a garage
Thanks for any help
Riggs

I had this once, no apparent reason for it but the little washer on the HB cable in the drum got caught up and made the HB bind, pulled the shoe off re set the washer and all was well, never had an issue since, Rick

Sounds a bit wheel bearing type symptoms, or brake pads worn, handbrake is on the back of the gearbox..

Could even have a stone wedged between disk and back plate..

If the noise is similar to a wheel bearing, it could be serration of the tyre. Run your hand along the tread in one direction, then back the other way and feel the difference. It might be less obvious on chunky tyres though.
I suffered from this as a result of running on Spanish roads, I've never heard or suffered from this in the UK. My (Spanish) mechanic seemed to know the problem, so could be caused by the Spanish asphalt. :nenau

Our branch of Santander is only a few miles away, I would consider a closer bank if I was you. lol.:

Are the rear brakes Disc or drum, could be a stone, wheel bearing as suggested, or brake piston/caliper sticking.:nenau

I would say disc brake related most likely, check your pads on that side, might have a sticking caliper.

Like Daemo says it can't be handbrake as it acts on the rear prop as it comes out the gearbox not the rear wheels.

I doubt it's wheel bearing as in my experience that isn't intermittent :nenau

well done Rustic I muffed it you came in with a sense of humor, have a mate younger than I, ten years ago had a triple by pass then another related problem, much more recently diagnosed with lung cancer, had one dose of chemo, but did not quite clear it now having more, he is like you keeps on top, has a joke about, but some times I can see his pain but he will not submit, I always know, if I see him on the scotch before 3pm it is bad, but he is never down, Rick

Sorry did not mean to side track the thread, but Rustic is important, Rick

:thumb2 Thanks, had a few more issues with the old catheter, this last week, I told them I needed a Wash kit... (was blocking) a lot of the NHS staff said no chance, passed from pillar to post, said it had to be done at A&E, now I have been given Five lol, so I can do it myself. Changing clutch and brake fluid over the years has shown that I am fully experienced to do this task by my self as needed.:lol:lol:lol So if your fuel lines are blocked.... I'm your man lol...:lol:lol
P**s easy job. :doh:doh :lol
The nurse wasn't that impressed when I suggested I was going to use Harpic if she didn't let me have some lol... Eventually she appreciated my sense of Humour.
:lol
