Do they stretch ?

Drums are sound as adjusted in drum 6month ago and pedal is fine, Hbrake adjustment nut has wound down to the end of the thread, locked another one against it, but its coming all the way up again, only thing I can think of is the cable has stretched ??

Anyone seem this happen before ?

Take drums off 1st and c if the little shity adjusters have adjusted as very common for them not to adjust £49 cheaper to try 1st then the cables:thumbs

You mean the adjusters in drum slacken themselves ?

Re cable stretch.

It might not be the inner cable stretching, but the actual outer part of the cable collapsing, ie crushing.

Have a look at the cable a few inches from where it goes into the rear brake plate.

Water gets in, and the steel tube part can rust, and maybe even collapse.
Remember the outer cable cover is carrying the same pressure in compression as the inner does in extension, ie stretch.

Go compare... Go compare... Each side to each other.
I feel a song coming on... :augie:augie. :doh

Cheers rustic, I shall do this.

The linkage where it splits into 2 underneath, I noticed one side much further back than the other, will investigate this further

do not forget when done to check the tell tale indicators on the rear of the drums, Rick

Just had a look at my cables and they look sound, nothing seizing both the same length and the sleeves look fine.

So I put about 8no m8 washers under nut on hbrake lever and its allowed the square shank to pull out of the lever body and tightened the cable.

Shoes were near new when I had the drums off 6 months ago, but I will strip them and see what's what as I have the n/s wheel cyl pissing brake fluid down the inside of the tyre :/
