Hi guys just wondered if any one has tried this I have always used an old laptop which has died and I prefer to use something like this instead of paper clip method

I've got a basic one of those just with the one obd2 connection.
Must admit though, I have used it more times on my 12'plaete Rav4 which has only done a 1/3rd of the mileage of the Terrano.
Clears error codes, engine mil lights, and scans for vin numbers.
Even the other week when the intercooler hose blew off, the Terrano didn't raise an engine check light - just carried on for another 5 miles til I got home (even though the black reek coming out the back made it look like I was running on pure coal!).
Handy things.

I read on the Primera forum that someone tried one of these N607's on a 2.2L diesel and not surprisingly it did not work, as many of these units from China are aimed only at petrol engined vehicles.
It may well work though for air bag/srs and auto transmission TCU etc., but engine data is likely to prove problematic.
email the seller first, and ask if it will work with Nissan diesels?

Top info Ray!!!!

I may be in touch again soon to see if we can get this 16 pin ODB2 plug right as I've got a 16 pin socket on my new one rendering my 14 pin consult useless unless I'm looking at someone else's motor

I bought my 16 pin reader from china some years ago, and used it to diagnose a couple of problems.

I dont recall the exact price but it was around £50 including postage. It is supposed to cover all Nissan's with 16 pins.Plus other makes of motors.Would have to dig it out from the back of my workshop to confirm the above. .

Pics would be a bonus :D

I'm in the process of wiring one up fro a £10 eBay jobbie with the help of Ray but I'm struggling with pinouts etc at the moment as the ones that I have found are incorrect cased on the female port I tried to plug it into on an old couples LWB Terrano while I was in the Isle of Wight

We'll get there, the bonus is I have the 16 pin plug on mine now so I can test it straight away after soldering :thumb2

Hope these help, not very good at photos

Bry, your DTC reader is OBDII, so will almost certainly work with any OBD compliant vehicle.
The fitting of OBDII on Terrano's is somewhat of a lottery, but by EU legislation it became mandatory on diesel vehicles from 2004.
Simple way to check is to look at the 16 pin DTC socket on the vehicle, if it has pin 7 present, there is a good chance that it will be OBDII compatible.

The N607 unit T2Chris linked to is a Nissan Consult protocol unit, and that I believe is primarily aimed at petrol engined vehicles, unless the Ebay seller advises otherwise I'd be cautious.
