On Suz's car, 2 of the 4 electric windows are not working... Before I start digging deep, and having door cards off, anyone had this before and can give me a clue where to look...

The Front Drivers side, and rear Passenger side work fine, but the front Passenger, and rear Drivers Side do not (opposites). The rear Drivers side has both the switch in the centre console, and the one in the door, and neither work.

I had a listen, and I can't hear any clicks or feel any movement in the glass, don't think the motor is even trying to turn.

Anyone?

I'm sure I've heard the switches in centre console fall apart for the fun of it if you disturb them. Wonder if previous owner had been fiddling?

The most common issue I found which produced the fault you've described is that the motor is stalled when the window is uppermost and sometimes cannot develop enough torque to unwind in the opposite direction to free itself so it remains jammed.

To treat the symptoms but not cure ( which may not come back for a while) is to take the card off the door and release the motor from its stress and reassemble.

Can't suggest anything as yet to fix this problem :nenau

Ohhhhh... that would be so unlikely on this car...:lol:lol It probably had the towbar wired into the circuit somewhere... :augie

I was going to pull the centre console over the weekend, as I need to add the other switches from my project thread, so I will take the whole thing out, and see if I can see anything wrong there.

Cheers, just what I was hoping to avoid...:lol I will start with the centre console, and then move onto the doors.

If you take the card off the troublesome door, pull apart the connector to the window motor and connect a 12v bulb ( brake light bulb be fine ) across the terminals in the connector and operate the switch in the centre console - may be easier than taking the centre console apart.

center console switches most likely as years of dust work the way in and crud them up they are strip-able for cleaning, and before you ask yes it disables the door switch as well, failing that the motors on the regulators, I have spares, Rick
