Hiya again everyone, I have finally had it with my T2, went to come out of work tonight and the steering has now gone. I put it on full lock and I heard a crack. I can not take it anymore with the problems I have been having and its costing me to much to try and put it right and they are not to many mechanics over here willing to help. I am going to get the steering fixed and sell her. If anyone might be interested in the T2 please let me know, if not I am going to stick it on ebay and see what I can get.

Sorry to hear that mate - sleep on it and see how you feel later.

Do you know what made the crack? My steering went through a stage of going over centre and getting stuck with my old one - suspect down to dodgy milners idler arm, think we discussed the none lining up holes on the phone - that used to be a bit alarming, steering stuck on full lock.

Will you be selling it with the new suspension kit you ordered:sly
mmmmm ebay

well id never thought you'd be a quitter... i know the wallet hurts right now but i was sure you was going to get all your problems fixed with your super expensive lift kit.

the trouble is that sort of money will hurt anyone.

if you sell how do you price something like that, especially to us ....
yes it looks good and got all the kit. but as we all know it aint working with that set up..... its lucky you weren't driving fast when the snapping happened

as i discussed with my friends today im too far in to quit and i recon you are too...
if you can afford it buy the kit and keep going with it. your this close now

i even contemplated a propper axle on the front today im so sick of it

if you get the kit and anyone else can help fit it on here count me in for a weekend with the tools. (in mainland uk of course)
.... best i can offer

hiya guys, I had it on full lock and now the steering wheel is turning free in my hand and the wheels are not moving. I have emailed the suspension people to cancel my order as I can not afford to do both unfortunately. I am looking at the hilux surfs now as they seem to have a little more room for all my junk lol. No idea how I am going to get it out of the staff car park.lol

I had a Surf before me maverick! It was cool std bit of kit but thought all the suspension mods were silly money for it.
If you must get one get the 3.0 lt as the 2.4 is trouble if you dont know its history.
Most tend to be auto too! Big old bus but v/comfy and mine was an import with all the toys as std.
That said I'm having more fun in the mav:thumbs
Good luck and hope you make the right choice

Hi Paul sorry to hear your news m8, TBH I know where your coming from as I know all the probs you have had lately:(:(

I am going to get the steering fixed and sell her..

why not keep it. cant keep going wrong can it?

Well guys got the T2 moved from work on a low loader, turns out its the steering relay rod sheered off and thats the only problem hopefully. Still not sure as to what to do about keeping her. I am finding it hard to keep up with the T2 constantly breaking down or needing something done to it. Going to take the weekend and think about it. I was looking at this on ebay just not sure about its age, thats the only thing http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=330308939259

I wouldn't go for a smurf mate. You're going to end up where you started if you do. Hilux Surfs, later hilux and Pajeros/Shoguns etc all share the same basic set up as the Terrano and will suffer from exactly the same problems with bix lifts. If you fancy a Hilux get an older solid front axle model.

Damn it, I have just re ordered the suspension lift kit from the US for the T2, Thank you guys for all the positive feedback, it was getting annoying with all the problems but I will get the kit, have it fitted and see what happens from there. One step at a time lol. Anymore problems and I think I will explode lol. Thanks again guys and look out England I am coming over again soon.

Also watch out for the import 2.4 engines:eek:
They are prone to head problems I think rom funny Jap anti freeze or something! Anyway it's a real risk so find out the engine history. The mileage that one has done you better see receipts for head work:thumbs
YOU'LL ALSO HAVE THAT EXHAUST OFF THE FIRST TIME OFF ROAD. There's a fair old overhang back there,I know I had one:lol

I wouldn't touch that surf with a bargepole . Surfs are dirt cheap right now so the only thing separating that from the rest is the lift and tyres . He's charging a hell of a premium for the work .
Like other folks have said the head cracks some time after they reach 10yrs .
The 2.4 is gonna struggle to power 35's anyhow and you'd want a load more work done to make it worth the money .
