Hi. Picked up a petrol Terrano II SE a week ago, been looking for a forum, so here you & I are.

Going to be 95% onroad, but as a reasonable price method of transport, this cannot be beaten.

Given that the dear beastie has already nibbled it's way through a chunk of my bank account, I'm thinking that you folk may be a sensible alternative to my Nissan dealer :lol:doh

Nothing major, but I am sure I'll need something eventually. Picked it up last Friday, £1700 with 104k on (partial SH with enough MOTs to verify mileage), got it serviced Monday (first time in 2 years, but only done 8500 in that time), ante'd up for a load of odds and ends today, about done except the rear wheel arch/sill rust problem, but that can be done sometime in the next six months.

Underside is incredibly clean (except as mentioned above), shod with new Falken T110s (235/75/R15), got on fag burn on a seat and some minor scuffs on the silver bits to get around to.

LWB, 1998 S plate, Peridot green/Starburst silver.

Picked up a pair of original front mats for a tenner off ebay, got some company doing me a hardcase for the spare as the original soft cover is a bit ruptured getting around a spare of this size.

Well, the service dude at Nissan said "The belts are a bit perished, but it's to be expected, they will need doing eventually".

Take note, the technical definition of Eventually is 3 months :D

Power steering belt failed on a long right at 70, taking the aircon belt off on it's way into three pieces. By the time I'd finished my journey, part of the aircon belt was the same shape as the gap between the driveshaft pulley and the block. :augie

Didn't bother the drive belt though. So, the rig got a lift home from a nice man with a flatbed, then a tenner at Halfrauds got belt replacements. However, after an hour of faffing, the aircon belt now missing as opposed to jamming, as the drive belt tensioner will not give, so I'll live without it.

Power steering belt no problem. Rollin' agin. :thumb2

Same thing happened to me except on a diesel and the belt took the alternator one with it.....right bloody pain. If anyone has slightly dodgy belts FIX THEM NOW!!!! You have been warned :):)
 
Agree, previous mechanic did head on my old rover 45 (yes gasket failed) but he didn't replce alt belt :doh - 10 days later belt shattered into many peices on M6, on a friday afternoon in december, 60 miles from home :eek::eek::eek:

the other moral being if belt de-tensioned for a period: replace it - they don't always like being re-streched.

Right, that's the rear arch and sill welding dealt with. Mate of mine with a T2 (the one that decided me to get one) can turn his hand to anything. Did his own rear arches for '08 MOT, now done mine. Cost me a hundred quid and a new welder's mask for him. :D
