Thanks everyone, any help would be appreciated, have been told to get the ordanance survey maps from a few people but not sure which to go for and how to read them, sorry if I sound like a numpty but you don't find out without asking.:thumb2:doh

you need to find a few locals... you must see the odd few mucky 4x4s in the area...

stop and chat to them.. ask if you can tag along.. dont go out on your own!

To find byways depending on how zoomed in you are they will be pink or green + signs :thumbs

theres a boat, as in byway open to all traffic across morecambe bay i believe,

what part of nw as you may find derbyshire dales worthwhile aka hope valley.

drop me a pm can give you refs.

There aren't very many in Lancs tbh. Kit Brow up near Galgate, Pit Lane out near Baroldswick, Roman Road near Cow Ark, Haylots near Halylots Moor but actually thats tarmaced its just the OS map doesn't show it like it might be, Melling White near Melling, Dandy Birks near Claughton. Probably a few more but there the ones i can remember. TBH from Lancs you may as well go to the Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales - thats a general statement not just to go laning LOL.
