Got an Almera

Ok,knocked the Primera idea as the few I looked at were very suspect. Picked up a pretty decent 99 Almera, 4dr, 1.4i Ambition. Looking for info regarding whining from the front,possibly gearbox or bearing. The little info I have so far is check that correct oil is used in gearbox, seems they can be delicate items. From what I understand gearbox is a common problem but a relatively low cost fix,just bung another one in. Noise is constant while driving,gear changes are fine, no crunching,power (or lack of) seems normal for engine size. First impressions are that they are a basic nice car,nothing flash but reliable. Really looking for someone who has had one or more to point me to potential issues.

Best of luck with it Liam. Like I mentioned on another post the only problem I ever had with the one I had was the power steering pump went. Can't tell you about any other problems as I didn't have any. Think I did about 60,000 miles in it and never serviced it.
