Right, my t2 has started to feel really sluggish all of a sudden. It stills revs however just doesn't seem to go anywhere at all. It used to be pretty nippy up to about 60ish however it now struggles to get up hills in 3rd. Anyone got any ideas???? I know it needs a oil change and new fuel filter which I have. The T2 also had a slight waterpump leak (I have a new one but haven't fitted yet).

Change what you've specified above and watch her fly again!!!!

Hi you need to add in your signature what vehicle it is, ie 2.7 Td or 2.7 Tdi with intercooler.
Saves having to type it every time.
If Td, then mini filter as suggested.
If Tdi, could be minifilter or MAF.

Either way, should be a cheap fix.
You might also have air getting into the fuel lines, so worth checking from the tank, to the filter.:thumb2

Exactly the symptoms mine had when the mini filter was blocked. After cleaning it for the fourth time in a year I didn't bother putting it back, had no trouble since.

If it's a TDI it could be the MAF has died, mine turned into a snail when mine went, replaced it & it became a rocket

I must look into removing this mini filter, when me and rick looked, we looked in the wrong bit. Released it was another place later :lol

5 min job to check it Alex & even you can manage it:lol

problem is there are two pumps for these motors Bosch & Zexel, I know know that the filter is at the front on a Bosch and rear on a Zexel, or is it the other way round, damn forgot already, whatever it is on the RETURN TO THE TANK PIPE, which suggests that if it keeps blocking that the pump is shedding its own wear debris, I would be concerned about this as removing the filter is only alowing this debris back to the tank but not cureing the debris problem, lack of propper lube comes to mind, may be time to add two stroke, but I am also told the Zexel suffers govenor spring problems so could be that, Rick

Actually I remember you mentioning this last time. Could a hose be added with a replacement filter in place? One similar to a mini filter?

I would try unplugging the MAF first to see if there is much difference first if there isn't then i'd say the maf has died:augie

Thanks guys will get straight on to it. The old girl is meant to be taking the family to the south of France in August and I don't really want any hiccups. Should have said mine is a 2.7tdi sport (if that sport bit makes any difference) with a bosch maf connected to a induction K and N aircone.
The how to remove mini filter on downloads refers to a 2.7td will mine be the same or different? 2001 2.7tdi
