Hello again. following some good advice from members in earlier postings I have now succeeded in convering the 3 door 3.0 Diesil commercial van back to quite a reasonable estate car. I obtained a set of used tinted glass from a 1997 3 door from Pickupbits at Great Yarmouth Norfolk. ( Mark at www.pickupbits.co.uk 01493 857744) who arranged for a windscreen technician to laboriously strip off the three layered/ bonded side panels with all the bonding material and refit the glazed sections. looks as good as new. Scotseat Direct ([email protected] 0800 074 8295) do a folding rear "dicky seat" for the Terrano which bolts into existing seat fittings  , is safety tested and has 2 integral lap belts. took around 2 hours to fit seat and am fitting lap diagonal belts for added safety. windows costs were circa £120 fitted and seat around £450. will try and post pics in gallery when I work that one out. hope this feedback on an earlier problem solved is helpful. the ducks selling standard fold up seat for rear lwb lot cheaper than that mate

Technically it's an interesting mod done to your motor because I don't think it is just cutting panels out and putting glass back in. Is there a reason why you chose that route rather than a standard SWB. Not putting you down in anyway just being nosey. Have seen rear seats put into Astra vans and the panels being left simply to keep it as a van and take the kids out on a sunday afternoon.

think youll have to re register it as car now as well to be 100% legal as jim says mate mine did same to ex forrestry commision astra van ol bil gave him grief till he registered it as estate

yes we had to do fester van aswell it changes the tax and its a serious mod even though if you took seats outve estate its a van basicly id just wait for ol bill to say something be nice plead ingnorant and see what they say

I'm pleased you managed to get it done cici  I think I would have put in standard T2 rear seats but thats me  But I do under stand why you have done it & think I would do it if I got the chance as i'm sure the only 3L T2's are all LWB. 3L SWB Mmmmmm nice

Terrano swb van - glazing and seat fitting

thanks for all the comments. in response to these - reason didn't buy SWB estate in 1st place is 3.0D SWB estate is rare and looking around for some weeks could not find one apart from in S Ireland which is a hell of a treck from Norfolk!. Wanted the 3.0 for towing heavy c/van and this 2 yr old motor was available for £3500 less than the cheapest 5 door and had only done 26K with FNSH. allowing for the cost of windows and seat and yet to come discussions with revenue, it was a great buy, hence the reason to convert back.
Only 2 of us plus dog 99% of time and wanted fully folding seat to make most of load space but occasionally carry passengers when needed. just missed a 5 dr rear seat but the fit of the Scotseat is dead easy and brackets locate over existing holes. CiCi

i ahvent towed anything with mine yet but im betting the three litre will pull anything, looking to buy big caravan again as tent holiday nearly killed me lol!

Cici - did you ever get a response from the revenue with regard to VED? Also what have your insurers said?
