I have just found some very rare 2 door glass for my Cortina project. Trouble is they're in Cumbria...
It might help if you say roughly where in Cumbria, the reason being, it could add an hour or more to someone diverting off their chosen route
We as a group have not been good at the Pony Express, it used to be fairly common a few years back, when there were more regional meetings.
Clearly it is unlikely that if members do this, it can be done in one, so it might make it to Cannock, J11, or J12 on the M6
Then the next leg two weeks later.
If we were really organised, between members, we could offer regular routes we do, and given time link several together.
However, a good courier could move anything within two days to virtually anywhere in the UK for £10-£20
I agree the main issue here is packaging, who will take responsibility for damage?
I have received 2' fluorescent tubes in the post, with minimum packing, virtually the outer cardboard, and they have made it ok.
I have also received items wrapped in bubble wrap, then a box, then more bubble wrap around that, and the item inside pulverised.
It all depends on how they are handled, fragile items, should only be thrown underarm...lol
Then the items are on the floor of a truck, sliding around...
When we have bought stuff on ebay, and it is too far, we often decide to incorporate it into a weekend away.
We have been to Selby, Conwy, Herne Bay, Southampton, Gloucester, and sometimes it has to be there and back in a day, sometimes in a hired tailgate lift truck.
I guess it depends on what the hobby means to you.
We have also bought stuff locally, a few within walking distance.
