i have a question to all.can i fit an old manual fuel pump on my 98mav tdi.So gool will be to ignore all the unreliable electronic bits.Would it work are the fitting are same??Please help

IM 99% SURE.

NOPE

the TDI is a fly by wire kind of motor, so needs all the electronic bits...

but im willing to learn..

I think it might be possiable to do but the cost may out weigh the price of the odd MAF unit:confused:Toolbox will prob be your man regaurding this

You would probably get the pump to fit, but its all the other bits like the foot throttle and cable, wiring the stop solenoid etc, not sure on the injector front either, which may need changing and then the question of will they fit in the head. The MIL would be on all the time so the bulb would have to be taken out because without an ECU the heater plugs wouldn’t work, or rewire heater plug control, just a few things I can think of at the min.
The pump would want screwing up to get the best performance with the intercooler and then would the emissions be ok for MOT. I would be inclined to stick with what you have for better power, economy and emissions. Although it may not be impossible, is it worth it?
