Does anyone know if an automatic gearbox from a 1995 nissan mistral will fit on a 2001 nissan terrano tdi.
I'm getting really desperate as I don't want to get rid of my t2 😢😢😢

Tough one that, as the Mistral was an import, box may fit but what about the auto brain and harness? if the doner motor has the same controls then may well work, but not sure, Rick

If you do alot of heavy towing why not put a manual box in.

Loom will be different, as will be gear lever covers but I guess should not be a major problem, main issue will be flywheel and bush for first motion shaft, but if donor motor has box it will have flywheel and bush, to get the bush out pump it full of grease, and use a tight fitting shaft to knock into bush (half inch socket extension often works) hydraulic action pushes bush out unharmed, Rick

It's an option I'm willing to consider. I can puck up a full terrano cheaper than an auto box.

Doner motor will have clutch pedal, pipe, and slave cylinder as well, and the bracketry will all be in place on yours, do not forget to tell your insurance Co if you do make the change, there may be a difference in prop shaft length but again doner motor will supply, one last point, the transfer box on the auto has a subtle difference to the manual so make sure you keep manual transfer box on the manual, Rick

I would try your Nissan Main Dealer Parts Department they have the ability to check the part numbers on imports and against the donor vehicle if its the same part number no problem. Just the matter of finding a helpfull partsman or woman. Otherwise you are going to need the wiring & electronics from the donor to be sure.

PS If yours does not have the overdrive that might be an issue ?
Many years ago I tried to change an auto into a manual on an old Opel and found the crankshaft taper for the torque convertor was different to a manual gearbox !!
