Gearbox problem

I was due to pick up my Patrol tomorrow at last after having my gearbox reconditioned but when i spoke to the chap he said it runs great in every gear but 4th, does anyone no why ?. he also said the company who did the box are coming to have a look at it tomorrow.

It is a 95 toolbox.

What’s it up to in 4th then, noisy/ jumping out of gear?

The 4th gear is attached, well part of the in put shaft, whereas 1st 2nd and 3rd are all free running on a shaft behind. It could be that they have a duff bearing there is a needle roller bearing in the rear of the input shaft that may be the problem.

Make sure they get it sorted before you have it back its there problem; so don’t pay any extra mate

The man said it is hard to get it in and its very noisey in 4th aswell.

If it's been reconed there should'nt be probs 8O I would take a gues at bearings & 4th gear syncro :roll:

When they reconditioned the box wouldn't they of replaced those part Sweety ?.

I would have though so :roll: Could I ask what the prob was with the box before it went in

sounds like they havent done there job properly did u get a courtessy car? are u doing clutch whilst box is out belt and braces type thing !

No i havn't had a courtesy car but yes a new clutch put in. Thanks for your advice everyone.
