gearbox leak

hi i have just bought terrano on a 96 p plate 2.4i. i have noticed it has a gearbox leak and it is noisy, very noisy when pulling my caravan. anybody know whether this could be fixed and if so how and how much do you think. changes gear as it should and the clutch seems ok but i think thrust bearing has gone.

not 100% sure, but i think if you decide to change the thrust bearing, you may as well do the whole clutch, which is gear box out/drop as far as I know. migth even be just that its low on oil, someone will be along shortly with some suggestions i am sure!

sounds silly, but have you made sure the drain and filler plugs are in place and tight? I would follow Clivy's advice and check the plugs and the oil level before doing anything else.
