I am now well on with building my Garage and i am now turning my thoughts
to what to put in it when its finished (apart from the car).
I have never had a garage before and want it to have all the basics plus a few extras!
Not planning any major works just general maintenance .

So what would you all suggest are the necessities and what would you suggest as a nice extra ?

As Jim has said, plus very good lighting best on the walls, grinder with wire brush one end, pillar drill, tool kit hanging on the walls with painted outline so you can see what you have not put back, anti door scuff carpet on the walls, cork on string hanging so just touches windscreen at certain point when car correctly positioned, bench battery charger, Rick

Interesting, lights on walls, would you suggest tubes or positional spots ?

Fridge already on the list , priority!
Would have done a pit if I had thought at slab stage, I am building a garage for a client
at the moment and he is having a pre formed fiber glass pit !

Interesting, lights on walls, would you suggest tubes or positional spots ?

depends on size of garage and space available but a 6ft tube each side would be good about 5 ft from the floor, then wander lights for working under the motor, I use 10 watt led flood lights, almost indestructible, Rick

Build some high level cupboards, I used chipboard, better than shelves as the doors stop things falling out and if you use it as a workshop, wood work etc, then the contents of the cupboards don't get covered in dust.

Paint the floor easier to keep clean.
Paint the walls, ceiling and cupboards etc white.

Plenty of power sockets and some well placed flood lights, I have 4 x 150 watt one in each corner. plus the normal overhead lights.
Keep as many things as possible off the floor, hang stuff on walls etc easier to brush or even hoover the floor.:doh

I have the following hanging off the walls, 2 x workmates, , 2x trestles, spare wheel, brushes, mops, bike rack, 2x gazebo, even a de-humidifier wall hung.

Plus loads of other stuff, I even have a workbench and tool cupboard.

Plus Chest freezer, 2nd fridge, for the wine and beer, a trailer, filing cabinet, ladders plus the Mav and a Picasso.
A tap by the door with a hose attached for washing off the salt before I put the cars away in the winter, assuming it won't freeze overnight.

Oh it is not a small garage though.

When we bought the garage, it had a house attached which was OK too.

Best regards,

Rustic

All very good sugestions and are going in my plans .
I havent chosen a garage door yet and don't know witch type to go for.
Its a double garage and the opening is 3 meters wide .
Any advice appreciated .

What ever door. Electric opening

Some electric openers restrict the height, as the mechanism can be under the door when it is open.

So check before ordering what height you will get.
