Hi folks,

I am working on the diesel fuel tank of my Terrano to get rid of rust and make it fuel tight again. Apparently my fuel tank was only coated with bodyschutz, no epoxy or paint coating underneath - is this normal for a fuel tank?

I've just refurbed mine mate, have a look at some of the most recent posts in my project thread, click the link in my signature.

Sounds a bit odd to me mate :nenau

Have you got some pictures?

With the fuel tank, it is very vulnerable to rust on the front leading edge, where the top and bottom are joined. Water gets in, rust starts, it expands and rips the seam apart, causing it to leak.
There are very few second hand tanks on the market that this hasn't started to happen already.

Undoing those three bolts at the front, might just release tension that could split the seam, making any leak worse. :doh
