Stripped back the paint and crud off my old fuel tank today. Found a few pin holes  I'd forgotten I'd put some plastic metal on it about 5 years ago :doh
So I simply ground back all the old paint and old repair. This time I used this Plastic Padding stuff.

Usual kind of resin mix, 1 to 1 mix it up and apply 4mm thick over the hole . dries in minutes. I then sanded it back and top filled with ordinary polyester filler.

Then sanded down all smoooth before spraying with my favourite Stone Chip grey

It'll dry a nice matt tone :D

Hope to refit tomorrow and so start the bleeding process and fire up the beast again :naughty
All new pipes everywhere so will take awhile I guess :augie

Bally hell Pete, are you planing on keeping this motor for longer than Rustic has had his?????????? Rick

And when do you find time to do work as in earning a living, and then you do sailing ffs are you bionic or something, and when do you find time for your wife, yea you must be super human, or maybe I am just getting effing old, Rick

You old boys never fail to amaze me...

There's me, tickled pink that I've renewed my fuel lines and going to replace some seat belts...

And then there's you lot, "cleaning the air in yer tyres" and "sieveing yer diesel to make it more efficient"...

It's inspiring!

Keep it up. I think I may change my own shockers!

Ah the old work life balance thing :)
Working from home yesterday and this afternoon. Doing plans and invoices etc.
Fantastic late light evenings are the best
Karen is just desperate to see this truck off the drive so I'm even earning Brownie points doing it :naughty

Less of the old boys, I am only 68 and makeitfit is a lot younger than me, Rick

well done but on the tank at the filler end there are the 2 big pipes and a bit further back there is a small one.what does that do and where please.

Fill pipe is the big one and the smaller one next to it is a surge pipe and goes up to the filler neck. The tiddly one is some sort of anti vac vent . It goes into a little canister then up to outer filler flap.

Nice paint job too

A quality job that for sure a man after my own heart. As my Dad used to say when he was alive if a job is worth doing its worth doing properly!
