Yes it does (doesn't it? I'm worried now LOL!), but there are some small tweaks you can do to the fuel pump and turbo that will help - Timbo is well clued up on it.
Magnets do nothing.
Hiclones do work well on big old petrol engines equipped with old fashioned normally aspirated (i.e. no turbo) carbs, mainly because its been proven that even the best carbs are utterly useless compared to fuel injection. Scientific tests showed even the most expensive carbs left fuel running along the inlet manifold sidewalls, causing inefficient burn. The Hiclone induces a swirling motion that was able to carry through the inlet manifold, maintaining the fuel atomisation and thus improing the burn.
In fact they were 'developed' in Australia where big fat carburated petrol engines were commonplace....but the idea was nicked from Mercedes-Benz who used to use them a lot before fuel injection came along.
But with fuel injection (diesel or petrol),
and a turbo in the equation, and the reality is there is NO science whatsoever to support them being effective in such a scenario. There are the odd folks on here that use them and swear by them but its snake oil. The proof is in the pudding because of course they are freely available in a wide range of motorists shops, motor factors and outlets like Halfrauds. Oh sorry, they're not....:doh
Stick a K&N induction kit on your truck (around £56) instead of your existing airbox and you'll see around 2.5-3 mpg extra and a little bit (not much but worthwhile) of extra oomph, so soon pays for itself. Several of us have done so and can vouch for same :thumb2
