does anybody know if there is a fuel pump in the tank on a 98 terrano 2 / ford maverick 2.7tdi ?

i have no power which we think is low fueling .
i have a new injector pump at the front..

thanks...

No fuel pump in tank try the downloads section theres one about mini filter in pump. Why have you had a new pump fitted?

Here's the "Banjo Filter" / (mini filter) download :thumbs

Can bet you that this 5 minute job does the trick :thumbs

Personally i would change your fuel filter & then clean the mini filter :thumbs

Normally when it is blocked it wont let the turbo boost. It also struggles to get to 50mph. Wont rev more than 3000rpm.

I done mine Sunday at www.totaloffroadlive.com as i had some of the above symptoms...
5 minutes cleaning the mini filter, job done & ready for the trip home :D

There is NO electric lift pump on these. What exactly are your symptoms ???
You *may* have a mini filter in the banjo, you may not. Check it and see..

The issue may also be an air leak caused by:

o Primer diaphragm split.
o Filter not sealing on the filter head (common)
o Steel pipes along the chassis rotten (common)
o Split in one of the rubber pipes under bonnet.

Or

Failed MAF (very very common!)

Replace the feed line under bonnet with a length of clear tube and check for air bubbles.

Then sack your mechanic who wasted your money on a new injector pump.

Can you tell us exactly what you have done so far with regards to sorting this problem then we may be able to help with suggestions.

Cheers

Fuel pump

thanks to everyone for replying..

i have lack of power, nothing over say 2000rpm...will get to 70 plus on motorway eventualy but hardly moving on hills etc..

hardly any smoke from exhaust, turbo dosent feel as if cutting in ,i guess because revs wont go high enough...rev counter goes all the way up no problem..

so far changed..

injection pump reconned(3 faults found)
fuel filter
air filter
oil
water
timing of pump
turbo adjusted
maf sensor cleaned
exhaust centre pipe
exhaust tail pipe

i have just found leaks in the fuel pipe running the length of the car....it started leaking yesterday...perhaps it was leaking air before???????

it is being changed today..

any help would be appreciated....

thanks

Fix the leaky fuel pipes first;

then meter the MAF (you want a solid 4+ volts on pin 3 at WOT & 2500+rpm under load) ,

or replace it anyhow. I'd put money on that your's is dead- assume you have the Bosch flavour ?

apparently it has an hitachi unit on it...afh 70-14 226802j200

i dont know if its had the wrong one put on perhaps?

Plugs between the Zexel (Hitatchi) and Bosch are different, so unlikely..

Zexel MAFs are much much more reliable than the Bosch ones, but do still go wrong. Sadly they are about x5 the price of the Bosch. A quick test is to unplug it, and try a drive. If it is the same or better, then the MAF is dead.

Check ALL other items first.

ah ok...can i change the plugs over...surely they work the same if the tests are the same etc?

thanks

All this talk of MAFs has got me thinking. My old V6 VW sharan used to eat MAFs for breakfast dinner and tea. I think I put five on it in the three years of ownership ! It was a leaky oil pipe getting the sensor dirty. Anyway, my point is, I replaced the last one with a different part, from a golf td, as the plug sockets were the same. It was about half the price and worked perfectly ! Might be worth looking into the actual plug socket part of the MAF, you might find something else cheaper does the same job.

OK THANKS...i think we will try to use the bosch one and change the plug...

we have replaced the fuel pipe that was corroded and started to leak but it hasnt solved the problem..
