Those leak off pipes are brittle and fiddly, check them again

Hi, I changed my fuel lines, both feed and return, for rubber a few weeks ago. Not a particularly arduous job, bit messy, but you don't need special tools or equipment.

Michael.

Got more time now !

Further to my earlier post, this is my second T2, both had leaky fuel lines, but this one ('05 plate) I decided to do myself. Cost me about £30 to do, in about half a day once prepared. I followed the advice of others on here and changed the whole lot rather than repair them. It's actually easier to replace than repair. Rubber hoses then cable tie them to the old ones. Judging by the look of yours (if that's it in your avatar), if they are not leaking yet, they will be soon.

I found a good supplier of fuel hose at a reasonable price, you need to measure the pipe sizes on your fuel tank, accessed by the hatch under the boot carpet, as there seems to be some differences in sizes.

http://www.beal.org.uk/ supplied the pipe and cable ties and jubilee clips.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will have a good look around those leak off pipes first.

Replaced main fuel lines last November front to back. No probs so far. Replaced leak off rubber pipe last August and it was leaking again about 3 weeks ago. It had gone brittle and I also probably weakened it when I put it on and used pliers to push it that extra couple of mm more onto the fixed pipe. This time no pliers just the best I could do with fingers. Is a fiddly job but this time slid power steering pump right out of the way and this gave quite a bit more room to work on the lower connection.
