Hi, I've just changed my fuel filter for the first time. As others have reported its very hard to undo the filter and I could not budge it, but instead of undoing the pipes and putting it in a vice, I managed just to turn the filter upside down and reattach it with the two mounting bolts. If you do that, your have good access and grip. I used a small chain wrench and just loosened it just enough to allow removal once Its turned the right way up.
I poured the diesel from the old filter in to a plastic jug and there was quite a few bits in it. Since I did not have any new fuel, I filtered it through some kitchen paper and put the fuel in the new fuel filter. It took a fair bit of pumping and initial turning over but after a few atemps BINGO all well.
ps mines a 3ltr so I dont know if the pipes long enough on a 2.7 however mine are short but just long enough to twist.:clap
