Hi all,

Looking for some advice ASAP!!

Changed the air filter today and also did the fuel filter. All relatively straight forward - old one off and new one on. The old filter was in a terrible state and the drained off diesel was poor so i didnt fill the new filter (never bothered on previous cars either).

Primed filter, Cranked the engine, she started 2nd time, but ran very rough then died. Signified to me air in the system. So, i primed the filter again until hard, but this time it wont start. After turning over, the filter prime was soft again and i pumped no-stop for 15mins!!!! Still not starting.

I removed the filter and it is full of fresh diesel, clean and can also drain off successfully from the bottom. BUT i cannot get the system to prime now at all.....

Is this a big air-lock somewhere?

Any ideas / hints / tips please?? I need her back on the road for tomorrow AM!!

Thanks very much in advance.

In the past people have had problems with the replacement filter not sealing correctly and dragging in air. There should be some posts about it.

ok - read a few posts and tried various things - now working!!

Next time i'll read a few posts / search and have a brew and a butty before panicking!! Sorry.....

In the end i had to prime the filter with the injection line off and then cranked it a fair few times (whilst jumping off my BMW becuase the battery was strugling by this point). After 4 or 5 times trying and keep priming i got there.

Runs like a dream now!! Oil change next.... after a brew.

Cheers anyway!!

Don't worry about it mate, it's info that you joined for. Also when you have time might be worth look at the mini filter, there's a workshop on this item in the downloads.
