hi all my brother has a t2 costing him £30 quid for 60 miles 2.7td swb seems expensive i done a trip to stafford today had to go out of my way to pick my daughter up and drop her in stafford where shes moved to in total about 200 miles cost me about £35 in diesel hes done mini filter fuel filter changed pipes on turbo as was split anything else he should look for ???:nenau thanks all darryl

fuel leaks above rear drivers wheel, i get 90 for £20, thats at 135.9pl
 
200miles on £35 thats almost 36mpg hard to think ur mav is doing that well seams i get 32mpg at a push and most others get round 30-31mpg top did u neck the fuel tank when doing this millage as u can not go by the fuel gauge

when i put £40 in this morning gauge was bout half way between red and quarter after putting fuel in took it to bout halfway between half and 3quarter mark when i got back just above the quarter mark i to be honest i only look at the gauge its the only way i know how to do it but no did not neck the tank darryl

that means ur doing 35.48mpg its impossible for the 2.7tdi to get that the gauge is not acturate only way u can do it is fill tank till u see fuel in filler neck rest odo run around fill up till u see fuel in same level in filler neck, see how many litre went in divide that by 4.546 and that give u gallons c how many miles u did divide millage with gallons and that actural mpg not a dream of 35.48mpg:doh

As said dozens of times before, the gauge is not linear. So the only real way to assess MPG is a brim to brim refill and clock the mileage in between. Fact ;)
MPG on mine about 25 ish, but hey, I never bought it for it's frugality :lol
Got a bloody veg burning Focus for that :thumbs
 
ok will try brim 2 brim filing up but any suggestions on the t2 start of threat:thumb2

what bout fuel pipes round the o/s/r wheel arch theses r known to rust and leak is it smoking:nenau u really r not giving enough info bout truck is he doing the £30 on 60 miles same way as u were:doh not acturate enough what driving is he doing all theses thing do affect mpg:nenau

hi its not smoking the driving realy does vary 1 day he could be doing 20 miles round town the next 200 plus on the motorway i know that he is heavy footed thanks darryl:)

round town is a killer plus on top of that lead right foot not good but the last half of the tank is not good tell him to do the mpg via the brim to brim method might show real world mpg
 
Same problem really, he needs to brim to brim mile check . Anything else is pointless guess work.If his mpg is below 25 and he really doesnt have lead boots then there may be probs. Could be as daft as binding brakes, tyre pressures , roof rack, dead body stuck round the prop :lol

19 post y didnt u say that earlier:nenau has he checked fuel pipes around rearwheel arch they rust and my be leaking diesel
