Passenger side front window (left hand drive!) refuses to go down all the way, seems to jam halfway down.

I took the door card off now, and found the source of the trouble: the winding mechanism seems to have broken off / come loose from the mount on the inner door panel.

Apparently the winding engine assembly is clamped on to the support bracket with some black plastic mount. This one is broken (3 of the 4 mounting points).

Now, any chance to buy just that part, or shouldn't I bother and try to fix it with tie wraps?
Have some long drives coming up, plus a lot of observing the roe deer rut now, so a fully functional window would sure be nice :)

My breaker has gone to scrap yard heaven now matey otherwise you could have had my bits and bobs for the price of postage :doh

Thanks for the offer, but I thin (hope) the problem is no more :)

2 heavy duty tie wraps did the trick, just have to drive around a bit now to see if they hold. Most likely the window motor broke the mounting rubber when I had my run in with a rock.

How did you get on with that, you took some chassis damage and propshaft damage didn't you?

Happy to say all is fixed, with considerable help from Rick who sent me a replacement chassis crossmember and who gave advice on how to replace the CV boots

New exhaust, replacement crossmember, new CV boots, new steering arms and top + bottom balljoints. A lot of work and money for a stupid mistake, but on the positive side the car steers better and is more silent now. Old exhaust, balljoints and steering arms were on the way out anyway.

Glad to hear it's all coming together. Good old Rick helps another :clap
