I have read many threads on here, of people building front winch bumper/mounts, but most just get interesting, and then stop before the money shot...

I thought I remembered seeing one that fitted nicely behind the actual bumper, and fed out through the slots at the bottom, but I can not find that one at all.

Basically I would like to know more, as I fancy one, that will help with positioning of the caravan and help in mild lose of traction, like ice, snow, and grass, rather than up to the roof in mud...

like how much would one cost, pre-built?
Where could I get it?
how much in the way of modifications, would I need to make to my car to fit one? I do not want to loose the Aircon.
Are the trays universal, or do they need to be drilled for the specific winch?

I think that is it for now.
Cheers

Hidden winch tray shouldn't be hard. They're pre drilled to most common winches. So measure up a winch tray and then the gap between bumper mounts. If the tray is the same or less, bingo. Just need some "wings" welded on the side of the tray to mount onto the chassis where the bumper fits :thumbs
Given that a whole steel winch bumper is under 200 quid I guess a winch tray job will be much cheaper

So where do I find these, I did a search, but could not find anything for a T2.

Here you go:

That's the one.. so how did you do it, how much did it cost, and did you have to loose the AirCon radiator...

Not mine but I know who's it is, he sometimes comes on here. I guess it does not have aircon being a older style.

I doubt it was off the shelf. Just modify something like this or better still start from scratch.

Not sure I am up to making it from scratch, I do not have the gear. or access to it either.

Did you read the T&C's on that listing.. there is a man who has reached the end of his tether with people like me, who do not know exactly what we want..:lol

PS air con is gay :freak3:
:p:p :lol
Tell the ferrets that... :naughty

I just looked for a quick cheap tray :augie
Do you have any metal fabricators near you ? Blacksmiths round here will happily bend a bit of sheet for you and weld on a couple of end bits to join onto the chassis :thumbs

I might be able to find someone, but I am not sure exactly what I am looking at doing...

Do you, (or anyone) have any pictures of where everything sits and fixes to?

E.g, do I remove the front cross member and put this in place of it, or does it sit on top/below.. Sorry to be such a baby, but I do not have any idea where to start on this, so a step by step hand holding (see must have aircon:lol) exercise is needed here..

Hey, ferrets, you're gay :lol

:lol:lol:lol your brave, there are 16 sets of teeth here, all asking me how long till Christmas, when we are next going to Wales...

Having said that, they are all neutered, so probably not even sure what sex they are, either in mind or body...:lol

I kind of want a hybrid of the two, I like the facebook one, as it comes up and covers the bit on the wings, where the old bumper was and also covers the ugly suspension/front chassis bits as well, but it is missing the indicator holes, and "finished" look of the one Makeitfit showed...

Basically, I want Makeitfit's one, but with slightly higher on the side wraparounds, to neaten up the wing there, and the diagonal panels to hide the chassis.

Easily done mate, just needs a little infill bit welded on. I did make some for mine but never got round to putting them in place :doh Must do that soon :augie
The bash plate under the bumper was just made up from a RR bit lying around. It could easily be wider and shroud the undercarriage :thumbs
Say £250 ish

Hmmmm.. now you are talking, how would it fit on, just using the existing bumper holes, or would it need welding?

Just on my knees begging the wife for what I want for Christmas...:bow:bow

Yerp 4 bolts exactly where the old plastic kak was :thumbs Then a couple of extra 10mm ones up on the wing, but not essential.
Bottom bash plate also bolts into existing holes in the chassis, but they may need cleaning with a thread tap :)
