the front passenger side seatbelt has somehow become twisted , it seems it needs the belt turning around so that the clip that fits in the socket is the correct way round .

is this a fairly simple process , bearing in mind my problems ?

on first inspection it seems that i need to undo the bolt near the floor and then turn the belt around and refit bolt ...... sounds simple enough . but is anything likely to fall off .... ie under the car ?

ive tried twisting the belt back round in the clips , that is a no no

help / advice appreciated folks :thumb2

Ive taken them off the 96 terrano to replace after jack russel attack. straight forward.bottom bolt can be difficult but nowt to fall off.would it not work by pulling right out and twisting or remove from top mounting bolt. (hub cap posted )

have you ever tried twisting the belt inside the clips ? ..... the top seatbelt holder ( adjustable on mine ) looks a bit daunting , im scared summat will fall off inside the adjuster thingie ( thanks for posting the hub cap )

when you say the bottom bolt can be difficult , please explain ..... looks like all i need is my trusty socket set to undo a bolt .... but as always im probably wrong :augie:lol

if you pull belt out and can count twists should be even number.

surely just need to fold belt on itself and feed through, narrow point.

ok its fiddly, i know what you mean, but it mus have got that way
that way.

had to rethread a baby seat's own 5 pointer other day, size of wholes
were joke to get access, job for a child.

there is absolutely no way ( that i can see anyway ) of folding the seatbelt in on itself , there is a plastic bit in the middle of the clip that the belt goes through that prevents that  . the only thing i can think of is that the belt was removed at some time and put back on wrong ..... so .... back to my question , is it easy / simple to undo the bottom bolt and just turn the flippin thing around ? or am i likely to encounter problems and say a few norty words

i know what you mean, maybe someone discounnected before to try to correct,
thats why i said count the twists, try to reverse them in your hand to see if
would cancel out given chance. seen it where theres one twist either side of the
restriction. yep its tight to prevent it but clearly it can be forced if like that know.

with part of belt flat, try to fold over a bit of it onto its self then feed this thru
restriction, it only takes a bit at slight angle to eventually go all the way.

there might even be a an area in the restriction, an semicurcular cut out to help
handle the bulge the temp fold creates.

sit in car with belt around you and see where twists are.

somebody probably tried to untwist it and twisted wrong way making worse.

if theres natural twists created by someone reversing t the mount isnt going
to fix it.

ok ive tried to fold the belt back on itself ...... not a good idea  ..... i only have one strongish hand and one weak hand ...... but even then it just will not fold over ...... out with the socket set ..... i may be gone some time :augie:lol

Just undo the bottom belt bolt Pete, there is nothing to fall off you have a bolt a fiber washer each side of the belt plate and a spacer, all will stay on the belt plate as you remove it, but you will only be able to untwist one full turn with this method as the belt plate is offset and will only go on one way, Rick,,,,,by the way how is the new motor.
