Front prop shaft refitting problem

Don't laugh at me yesterday I took my front prop shalt off to check the uj joints but can't remember the front from the back. I've noticed that on one end of the shaft it goes thin and moves in and out about two inch, so is this end the transfer box or front diff end :doh:doh:doh

It really does not matter, but most are fitted with slider to the rear, but what does matter is do not separate the two without marking them, they have a specific alignment, Rick

Thankyou rick just out of interest why does the shaft slide at that point ??

because the engine and gearbox are on rubber mounts so can move around a bit whereas the front diff is more solidly mounted although on rubbers for anti vibration, Rick
