Does anyone know what the front pipes are like to replace?

The flexi part of my new one has proper rotted out.

Just did mine (SWB 1997 T2) :)

Not particularly difficult, but fiddly. 2 of the bolts are easily accessible through the wheel arch after you remove the rubber mudguard. 3rd one might be accessible from below without removing anything, but I found it easiest to remove the front propshaft.

Note: gearbox support cross member was already removed in my car, no idea if you can remove / reinstall the downpipes with it in place.

As above, I did the third manifold nut with a very long socket extension from underneath. I think I ended up with about 2.5 foot, plus the UJ... I took the front of the prop-shaft off. :D

I also took out the cross member, as I could not see a way of getting the exhaust through without over bending the flexible part.

i did mine easy enough. two bolts easily accessible from the wheel arch, third bolt go inform the front with it on ramps if you can then extension sockets. I didn't remove anything from mine, you can JUST fit it by feeding the new pipe through from back to front, apply grease to the pipe so when you hit the cross member, it slides through easy enough.

Cheers guys doesn't sound too bad but will be sorting the welding first before I purchase anything.

Is there any gaskets?
