ok guys i have about 1000 miles left on my pads and was wondering if you guys could supply me with details of the best stopping pads to replace the old ones with.
in the past i have bought pattern pads for my escorts, fiesta's and golf but they really wernt much cop and tended to fade when brakeing (as i am on the motorways a lot).
what make of pads have you fitted and would you recommend them again?

parts

There is a parts provider in Barking Essex called Iuzera 0208709 1196.

They do list on ebay.

I bought a Disco 3.9 auto rad from there £109 inc vat.

There was a warranty problem with the rad and they exchanged no problems.

Collection available or next day delivery.

Mistral/ Terrano front pads £9.99
Mistral 2.7td oil/ air/ fuel filter kit £13.75
Mistral/ Terrano lower balljoint £11.99

regards paul

dont get me wrong guys and thanks for the info but i am looking for the best stopping power from the pads, not the cheapest.
if anything should be working to its optimum on any car it should be its brakes.
any more idea's on pads now
phil

The price is just a plus ;)

When i had me Scooby everyone raved on about RED STUFF & GREEN STUFF...

I stuck to my guns & used BLACK DIAMOND DRILLED & GROVED DISCS with FERADDO PADS & they worked as well as the above, half the price & out lasted by many months.! :augie

I havent had mine long enough to try different makes etc :nenau

So i've started with the cheapest :thumbs

see if you can get some "green stuff" pads, they will stop you without fading. :thumb2

i see adz mentioned green stuff, they will do what you want.

or go for nissan pads.

The mintex ones linked to above should do you fine, in my experience ordinary Mintex pads are more fade resistant than generic pad anyway.

But as for fade you really shouldn't have been getting fade on the motorway. I suspect there was somethuing else up. One or 2 uses of brakes however fierce shouldn't fade brakes. You need repeated applications to build up the heat even in rubbish brakes.

The brakes on the Terrano are pretty good anyway, big vents up front and massive drums at the rear. Yes I have faded them but only whilst really pushing it on the Dales and similar places, on roads I know really well and it takes quiet a while at that. Sweety will remember following me over towards Hawes one day (I had his girl in with me at the time), we'd been delayed and were trying to catch time up on the othe groupos on the trip, pair of us left Ian in a 200TDi Disco for dead and eventually when we waited for him te brakes on mine had started to go off but that was after about 10 hard miles in the hills with a fair weight on board and bigger wheels/tyres that take a lot more stopping than you ordinary whels and tyres. You have the weight o contend with and the flywheel effect of the tyre/wheel too.

If you really want an upgrade EBC now do their Greenstuff pad in Terrano fitment but they are in the region of £50+ for a set.

Whats green stuff?

Just a brand produced by EBC its there first step up the brakes ladder from standard. Yellow next then Red then Black which is an out and out race only pad, where the others are street/track use. The don't do SUV in Yellow/Red/Black though.

cheers guys, maybe the pads need changing sooner rather than later, i havnt had this maverick for very long, maybe the pads have become contaminated with something, maybe i may have to look into this problem more in depth!:nenau
