Hi all, can anyone help please with a little advice?

Today i went to have a look at a W plated LWB Terrano and whilst looking around it i noticed that it had odd front hubs on; the n/s had a manual and the offside had an automatic....

Should i be concerned?
Is it easy enough to get a replacement auto for the manual?

I arent really concerned about the task of replacing either of the hub, its quite an easy job, i believe?

Any help or advice is much appreciated

try it by turning front prop with car on ground if with the manual hub locked it rotates acouple of turns then the auto is fine if the auto fails the i would replace with manual think they r £43 each millers then at least if u need to go in low box on tarmac just leave the manual hubs unlocked and u can stay in low box all day long with out the fear of wind up onthe other hand u could leave them locked all the time turning ur hubs fixed like the newer terrano and be able to go in to 4H at 70mph if u wanted to i would get money off for the hubs not as they should be but then u can walk away with a bargin if u see what i mean:thumbs

Hi, thanks for the reply.

If I put another manual hub on the otherside and they were locked would that mean that whilst the wheels turn it will be turning the propshaft and causing drag on the transmission and therefore affecting fuel econemy...?

yes but thats how all the new 2002 onwards r and there fuel econemy r not much worse than pre 2002:thumbs but u really only need them left locked if say u r going off road for the day or its snowing for a week all other times i.e motorway and normal tarmac leave in unlocked mode :thumbs

ahem, the newer models fuel economy is better :thumb2 and i have owned both - and fitted milners manual hubs - and the newer fixed hub models are still more economical :thumb2
