Can someone please advise.
Drivers side window works perfectly.Passenger side is intermittent.Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
I cannot open or close passenger window from the control on Drivers side or the passenger side itself.
I saw a thread somewhere but cannot find it.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL AND YOUR FAMILIES.

If yours has 2 switches, (mine only has one) and neither work, then you are more than likely looking at either wiring or motor.

The switches are quite complicated, and it is often the switches that go on electric windows though, so don't rule them out completely. On my old Volvo 240, just moving the switch to do a substitution test was enough to kill them, and in the end, I had 4 dead switches, and was going round in never decreasing circles in my fault finding.:lol

The wires pass through a rubber tube in the door hinge area, and sometimes these snap. try opening and closing the door, which will gently move the wires, and see if that has any correlation on the window working.

There is also a relay, but that is for all the windows, so is less likely to be the problem on just one window.

The motor is probably the issue, as they are only just powerful enough, and over time, with lack of continual use, plus binding of the cables and levers etc, tend to get slower and more sluggish, which in turn causes them to work harder, and break down.

I would take the door card off, and have a look at the mechanism, spraying a bit of WD40 or some such in there, just to see if it frees it up and it starts working... if it does, then really you need to be taking it out and giving the mechanism a good clean and re-greasing.

On my 1995 mav, there is an isolator switch, near the hand brake, and seperate controls for the other windows. Not sure with yours though:nenau

If your is the same, check the switch, and when adjusting the hand brake cable, you sometimes remove the squab, by un clipping two connectors underneath, maybe, the connectors have worked loose, or a pin pushed back in one of the connectors.
