Both front brakes binding :(

What you guys think, Going to have a look this bank holiday weekend.

I was thinking seized pistons?

Or sliding pins? If it is the pins, should be a lot easier and quicker to solve. Had the same on my T2, judging from the different thickness of the old discs.

could be either pistons or pins both easy to check

Has it been stood a while.
Didn't use mine for a few weeks and the near side piston seized.
Lucky for me had had a spare caliper in the shed with good Pistons.
The one I took off had a split in the dust seal and the piston had pitted.

Nope been running everyday, started to feel it bind about a week ago.

I don't work far from home so can scav lifts off while its fixed next week if I can't do it this weekend.

Few jobs to do!

Well took the calipers off this evening.

Pistons seized, Sliders seized and won't come out of the carrier.

Will be an expensive month.

Any recommendations on where to get the above? Milners calipers are about £115 with vat each side.

Doubt the pistons are seized solid, pump the pedal till they are almost out if one comes out first put a g cramp on it so the other one moves, brake parts supastore can supply rubbers and slider pins which can usually be removed with a bit of heat and penetrating oil, but at 230 for both sides is it worth it, I have T2 calipers if needed, Rick

I broke one of the sliders in the carriers so will have to try and source one carrier. The other slider is seized, problem is I don't think I have access to anything to heat it up.

Will have a go at trying to release the pistons after work tomorrow.

Is this for your Mav or the Patrol? I have no knowedge of Patrols, Rick

I will give it a go, Got nothing to loose. Problem is while the vehicle is off the road I have to rely on others for lifts to and from work.

It's the mav rick :)

Then the seized pin can be drilled out, to do this drill a larger hole from the back as close to the centre of the pin as you can, once you reach the pin bore you can use a like sized drill to drill out the old pin the existing bore will help to keep the drill centred on the pin, I have done several with this method, Rick

Well I got the pistons moving so that saves a few quid. Will get a rebuild kit.

Tried drilling the carriers but it's a right pain in the ass and can't finish it. So will need to buy these from somewhere?

Also get slider pin kit too

So saved on the calipers :thumbs

i tried drilling one out once, ended up going out through the side of it lol

Well the parts finally came on wed/thurs from Lithuania! said item was located in uk.

Can't get the old pistons out of one caliper and the other is pretty nasty even having trouble getting the rubber out as its so rusty.

So think I will just go ahead and buy 2 new calipers when I get payed! :doh

Did you not get the carriers I sent? if you need calipers with free pistons I have these also, but thought you had sorted that, Rick

Yes carriers arrived :)

I thought these wouldnt be a problem, Just the clean up job involved alone as put me off.
