a mate of mine called richard from the stroke club is having some problems with his m reg astra 1.7 td estate , he says its running " weird" and kangarooing ,pouring out smoke etc , he was changing the fuel filter when he noticed it had a milky sort of colour to the fuel inside ....... any ideas folks ? :nenau

Sounds like its emulsified with water.

ie theres too much water in there.

thanks daved , i just spoke to richard and hes scared of putting the new filter on if theres a problem with the fuel system

put some fuel cleaner in then. but if its kangarooing etc, that indicates some other issue, but we'd need more info. Check the MAF for a kick off, and read the codes if he knows how?

dunno if it has a maf clive , its a 1995 astra 1.7td

not ringing him back at this time of night anyway , i will see him tomorrow at the club , i just said i would ask the guys and guyesses in the forum to see if they had any idea what was wrong :thumb2

I know whats wrong, it's a simple answer really and i'm surprised no one else has come up with it.........................................its not a nissan 4x4 :augie :lol:lol:lol:lol

seems richard has some water in his fuel , probably from filling up at a dodgy garage , basically he has to drain it all out ( about 30 litres ) and refill with clean diesel

trouble is , what the heck do you do with around 30 litres of knackered diesel ? can hardly pour it down the drain can you ? , and will need a fuffin big bucket

burn it lol

no, seriously, i dont know, there must be a council disposal are or something? and he'll have to use jerry cans or equivalent, but if the garage sorts it, surely thats their problem?

in fact thats quite a serious problem , what do you do with 30 litres of fuffed diesel ? :nenau

take it to the waste cooking oil people or ask them to collect it for nothing, their processes for bio will sort it out, Rick

Pour it in to clear containers... let the contaminate settle.. If it is water then the diesel should sit on top..(if I recall correctly.) Syphon off the good stuff and leave a little above the water line. Then he'll just have a small amount to get rid of.

Just a thought!

Failing that leav it out for a friendly traveller to collect and enjoy the experience all over again.. no thats what I call recycling :naughty
