I have done very little so far, got tomorrow till 1 pm to sort no 4 wheel drive, exhaust rattle, some tyres need changing, remove roof rails as too high, general check over, then pm shopping for triangle, headlamp whatsies, GB sticker, got hi viz jackets, and if I can find time call in on the job to see if the big three phase air con units fired up OK (lecy will not have power to them till pm Sat, my bit is all done, vacced down and charged with gas) I will also try to get a pic or two of the remodelled shop front that I did in 4 days, and will take some pics of the car mods, on the plus side we will not be leaving home till around 3 pm Sunday so will have a bit of time before, but forgot I have to set things up for our house/dog sitter who is staying for the period, so got to check batteries and water tank set up gas to caravan and electric and lots more, those that have been here will understand, Rick

Rick, for the headlamp beam benders, I always cut duck tape to an oval shape and just stick it on, never had a problem with that.
They say you also need breathalyzer kits in your car, we have, but have never needed them, in fact, we have never been bothered by the French police on any of our trips over there. Why are you removing your roof rails, is your truck lifted
We have got onto the euro tunnel and all ferries with our truck, no probs:thumb2

sounds like you`ve got a bit to do rick
we`ll see there on monday :thumb2

measures 1860 ground to rails and ticket says 1830 max, it is wife's motor so standard as far as can tell, Rick

Sounds like you have a bloody long journey in front of you mate, are you going to Dover or from another port.

Just been out and measured my truck, it sits at 1900 with the rails, it's on 17" wheels. I have been on the Euro tunnel and ferries with no problems.

depends on the operator
p and o ferries allow 1800mm

brittany ferries allow 1830mm

eurotunnel is 1850mm

any higher and your supposed to pay more :doh

Mine is 1860 to rails and went plymoth Roscoff last year no probs ,I think they just check the category you've booked ie not booked a normal car and in a 4x4
or have'nt booked a roof rack and have got a fully loaded one, Roof bars dont count as a roof rack, I'm sure you will be OK,John:thumb2

Brittany ferries, We had our caravan in tow, but we had plenty of cars on the same deck as us.
Euro tunnel, we were solo and had cars around us on the train.
