dose anyone kno of anywhere i could pick up some guards for my mav? i am looking for like a sump guard or somthing that will cover under the whole front end, diff guards and a tank guard. are they even made of is it going to be time for me to have some fun and loose my temper making some custom jobbies?

Tank guard should have one standard.

Sadly you can't buy rear diff guard off the shelf.

Front sump guard can be found from many breakers on here such as cncfabs. Although I ran without mine in some soft/medium offroad situations and had no problems.

I ripped my sump guard off to make it easier when I do jobs :thumb2

It also exposed the fact that I had a very minor lower crankshaft oils seal leak :doh

well its just some of the places i go are pretty OMG like the other day when i took in water there was no chance a 4x4 would have got me out so i had to walk 10 miles home and get my bloody tractor which only just managed it. my mates got some vids on his phone ill put up when i get time. im just worried about cracking the sump or smashing the rear diff on a rock or somthing. i mean prevention is better then cure right? i also have some stupid bloody step welded to the chassis on the passanger side, should i cut it off?

Get rid mate before you get subjected to the sidestep jokes :lol

meh. so i take it this would mean that there would be no such thing as rocksliders made for them either?

any half decent fabricator should be able to make some

Gay Side step radar ping :#

Warning, warning, "gay step alert" :lol
Bin it :sly
As for the rest of the guards subject, I'm not convinced they're really needed. Front diff and sump are snugly up over cross member. So front end could possibly do with a big old skool bash guard just to help deflect the truck over bigger rocks. 5mm steel will do nicely. best fix to underside of chassis and up to a steel bumper for rigidity.
Rear diff is pretty beasty on it's own and you'd have to be desperatly unlucky to land it right on to a big enough pointy rock to do any damage.
Rock sliders, as said above , make your own option really. Bin the chocolate sills and replace with box.:D
Fuel tank is probably the most vulnerable thing underneath I reckon. So for well hard coolness I'd do a body lift and then lift the tank up too. better still get a new one made with a better departure angle profile.
Carry on

The earlier ones had a metal guard as standard, it was only 2003 onwards I think that had the metal ones replaced by the plastic ones as Renault skimped out

right i have just cut the step off 5 mins ago :thumb2. umm i have seen on ebay before box section sill replacement kits, is it worth grabing one of these? as for sump guard i an currently slowly building a winch bumper for it so i was thinking of running the guard off the bottom of the bumper and under. ill try to make it look half decent but theres no promising that. if i lifted her would that be body and suspention lift and how much by? also would i need to extend the break lines if i lift it?
thanks guys for putting up with so many questions, i am very greatful:)

bags of room in the lines to do both a susp and body lift :thumbs

how much lift on the body and the suspension would you recommend?

you can only go about 2" max on the front for susp anyway and most people do 2" body, i did a 2,5" body but had to move the front diff breather

so would 3" n the back and 2" on the front be ok or would they need to be equal? as for body lifts i can only seem to find 40mm ones :(

I didn't realize there was a front diff breather, my mate has replaced his on his Disco 1 and trailed it all up his snorkel

yea that should be fine, you can make your own bodylift thats what i did

the front diff breather comes over the front x member and shares a breather with the gearbox that goes up into the engine bay
