Ford Maverick Engine area Mystery Pipe

Hi all.
My 1997 Ford Maverick 2.7TD had a pre-MoT which gave me a list of things to weld. One of which is a rust hole on inner wing area within 30cm of the brake servo. Looking at this problem I note a pipe the size of a fuel pipe going nowhere.
I attach a picture.
What does this pipe do?

Thats the breather pipe for the front diff,gearbox and transfer box.
Rubber pipes join into the bottom of it from them.

Yes Elty is spot on the money, incidentally that rust while within 300 mm of the servo does not weaken the servo mount as it is the inner wing and is not part of the bulkhead, but of course you might have a problem arguing that with the mot guy, Rick
