I thought my front fog lights were actually my full beam and that I didn't have front fogs :doh:eek:! Fog is the round one...

...there is a switch for them on the indicator stalk with the rears but when i turn it so both fogs are on only the symbol for the rear fog shows up on the dash, I couldn't do a search cos fog is too short :lol. Has anybody else the same problem?, the rear has stopped too now, fuse for fronts is ok, I can't find a fuse for the rears, cheers, Mark.

The first position from off is front fogs then you turn it to the next/last position for rears. I think that's right isn't it. With normal lights on and fogs, when you turn normal lights off, the stalk automatically switches the rear fogs off. Leaving the fronts on.

Yes Blocky is correct, but there is no WL for the front fogs as you can see them, only for the rear, trouble is if you leave the fronts on, when you next turn on your headlights they come on as well, not a problem you may think! but round here if caught driving with them on and no fog you will at best get a warning and "but they are driving lights officer" does not wash either, Rick

Yeh turning both fogs on forces sidelights on, turning lights totally off forces rear fog off only and leaves front on, is it possible I've left them on and burnt the bulbs out?, I had a glance at one bulb and it seemed ok, is there any known faults with the fogs or switches?

I've no problem with mine. They work but I haven't had them on long. Maybe the bulbs are blown? :nenau

I'll have a good look at them and get the multi meter on, haven't had chance yet, does anyone know where the fuse for rear fogs is, it's not in drivers footwell and the yellow diagram on the cover in engine bay has worn off on mine :doh:D

Wear some latex gloves whilst handling Halogen bulbs. If you don't have any gloves, have some meths & a clean cloth on hand to wipe the glass part of the bulb (if you accidently touch the glass). The moister in your skin ruins them & they'll soon blow.

 I just wipe them on me t-shirt, didn't know they were that sensitive :doh thanks bud :thumb2

Do you know if they are like standard bulbs ie filament is broken when gone?

Some times the filament can look fully intact when they're broken.
Get a piece of wire & attach it to the male spade & place the outer metal casing on the other battery post or two wires if double male spades & one to each post of the battery, this is a sure way to check them & easy too.

Will do thanks mate :thumb2

Yep moisture and grease from your fingers causes hotspots causing the bulb glass to get hotter in that place and pop

Well the bulbs work, even with my greasy fingers :lol my multi meter has a flat batt so when I put another in tmoro i can see if there is owt at the connectors, unlikely though:( I think the switch in the stalk has gone, which is a steering wheel off job on mine :doh

That's right Banshee.
I'd forgotten what the affects were. I was told this info 32 years ago when I was seventeen.

Exactly, I thought that everybody knew that you must not touch car/halogen bulbs, Rick

On the subject of a warning liht, I've thought it was a poor idea since 2002 when I got to know my first Terrano. I guess the simple solution is to simply connect a wire to the feed to the fog lamp bulbs and run it to a light on the dashboard. In all the time that I have owned Terranos I have not been bothered to actually do that little job.

Hope you get your lights working
