Flashing front wheels on 4wd icon on dash

Hi, I have an 08 Navara. On the dash, in the readout section, there is an image on the car, with bits that flash on each wheel and a central gearbox block. The idea of it is to indicate if your in two or four wheel drive. I've not used the 4wd system for ages, but have had to lately in the snow, since starting to use it the little indicator to say the front wheels are enagaged is flashing. Never seen this before. Is it normal? Has anyone else experienced it? Any ideas on the problem?

The car goes in for yet more warranty work over Christmas so Nissan can sort it then, but I've a lot of driving to do over the holidays so wonder what the craic is.

I had a Pajero and it also had a similar problem. It was showing that the diff wasn't engaged on the Pajero Perhaps on the Navara it is showing that the two front hubs aren't fully locked? Might just need to be stripped and greased. Just a thought,particularly if you haven't used it in 4wd recently.
