fixed hub woes?

Quick question,
I have fixed hubs on my T2 (2003) and today in the snow i got stuck, not badly, but when looking out of drivers window, the drivers wheel was not spinning despite being in 4WD.
I could hear the passenger side one spinning quite clearly.
so this got me thinking, with fixed hubs do you only really get 3WD as the front diff does not have LSD or diff locks.
Or am I missing something here?

That is exactly what should happen, if one of the front wheels looses traction on the open front differential.
try using some light brake pressure to load the spinning wheel and the other wheel will start to turn....

just think thats what happens n all the other 4x4s rear axles that dont
have an LSD, locker or some sort of traction control.

Which is why I describe a terrano even in 2wd as having closer to 4wd
thanks to the LSD.

Mind last night went out on covered roads and back end broke loose
thanks to the boot being empty and so much torque, 4HI soon tamed
it though spreading the umph to the front end.

Most of snow gone here now though, so glad to of had some fun.

Thanks for that great tip rayf, I just hope I can remember it when the one of the front wheels starts to spin in slippery 4x4 conditions.

Lots of the white stuff here today enjoyed a 30 mile round trip in it, the T2 performed as expected - exceptionally well!

Forget it, I looked into it at great length. it is possible but at huge amounts of cost and time and more research :doh
Best option is to get a LOKKA from Australia. Last time I priced them they worked out at about 350 squid .
Check again though as the exchange rate changes :lol

Yep - I just had a quote for a Lokka - shipped to Iceland was $610 AUS which is £415 ish so probably in the region of 380-400 to UK
