Hi All,

As I previously posted I have purchased a "K&N 57i Induction Kit" for the R reg Terrano II.

I am going to fit it, or at least attempt to, this weekend (Sunday hopefully). The instructions that came with it seem fairly easy to follow except I dont really understand a couple of steps (I will post more about this when I have the instructions with me at home later today).

For now, I was just wondering if someone who has fitted one of these to their Terrano could take a couple of close ups of the finished fitted item so I have an idea of what it should look like before I crap myself when turning the ignition for the first time when its fitted lol!!!

One other question, I assume EVERYTHING in the box is ALL I need? i.e. I dont need any oils or anything for the filter etc, I assume its a fit and off you go type thing?

Like I say I will follow up on this thread later today with which steps on the instructions I dont really understand and maybe someone could clarify.

Filter is ready for use and won't need oiling for 40-50k miles.

But it doesn't hurt to remove it occasionaly and give it a going over with a stiff brush, especially in the pleats.....you'd be surprised at the build up, especially in summer.

Hmm it looks surprisingly too easy lol - I wonder if even I can do this without cocking it up ;)

Ok. So here is the attachment of the instructions I have.

Looks semi-easy to follow however on photo B i.e. the bit where were fitting the K&N I am just a bit wary about point 5. Could anyone explain better what I need to do on that?

And just to clarify, I remove the entire black air housing plus all of its contents which is fine but I assume their is an air inlet to the stock housing, what happens with that?

This is what mine looked like installed. Just ignore the red tape its not obligatory, part of a it of research :D

If youre moderately competent with the spanners its a 30 to 60 minute job :thumb2

One thing I would suggest is the electrical plug you see there varies from model to model but make sure you dont install or leave it vertical as I have seen on some pics on the site (cant remember where) If its vertical it will tend to hold any moisture that finds its way in there :thumbs

daved, why did you leave the pipe into the wing in for??
and reason?

yep took me about 45 mins..
with a stop for a mug of tea

rofl - nice picture response ;)

Thanks for the excellent advice guys, I feel a lot more comfortable doing it now

What does it mean on step 5 on photo b? I forgot about that one.

twist it round so "K&N" is the right way up..

the do it finger tight...

the ONE FULL turn more so its fully tight

any more with just misshape the adapter

ahhhhh..................

Turn it round a bit , why does it need to come out :nenau

I would suggest it may even help by feeding ram air in as opposed to relying on static or more turbulent air from the general area :nenau

and if you ever want to put the old system in say when selling the truck its one less bit to dig out and refit :nenau

Decent engineering rather than just bunging a gadget in:thumbs

it dont...

i took mine out cause it came out with the air box
