does anyone know if i could fit the air con from my 97 tdi to a 96 2.4 petrol.have had a look but not sure if the air con is different on petrols and deisels.the petrol is the non air con one but has got all the blanks in the fuse box where it should fit.any advice very much appriciated :?

I would of thought the best thing to do first is check it will fit securely to the engine, don't forget the drive belt.

Theres a spare pulley on the crank on mine, I aways assumed it was for aircon, plenty of room to mount the compressor upo near the dizzy.

One hell of alot of work doing that, once you find all the parts, seen it done on cars and the man hours alone make it cheaper just to buy a motor with it already fitted.

the spare groove on the pulley got me thinking about it.plenty of room in the engine bay to accomdate it.has got mounting points for all the bits.might be a project as i have all the parts just not sure where to start.

We always start at the front with the Aircon rad, working back to the cab.

If you go ahead if I can be of any help give us a shout.

thanks mate  will have a good look at how its fitted on my other one.as i said it seems to have all the mounting holes etc but no air con.

let me know how you get on, im thinking of fitting it too mine for when i go to spain next year. luckily ive found a doner a car at a near by breakers with all parts still intact, so it should be a case of swapping them over. anyone have an idea of how much wiring is involved?

have had a good look at the manual and the motor and nothing seems to complex.will probably just change everything from one to the other.think the hardest part will be stripping out the dash to get at everything.will make notes and diagrams when i take the air con out of one so i dont lose my way. :? thats the theory anyway :smile:as for the wiring its got all the blanks etc on the fuse box.might even be the wiring as there are some unused plugs under the main fuse box.that would be to easy if all i have to do is plug it in

elty, Have a look to see if you need the ecu replacing as well with the aircon.

Has anyone got any pics of aircon pump, idler etc on a 2.7TDi - am wondering about fitting it and need to know what parts I need to collect from donor engine.
