Fitting a intercooler help

To my terrano friends, I'm wanting to fit my intercooler to turn Toby into a TDI, I've sorted out how i'll fit the intercooler at the turbo end, but at the inlet it won't fit, so I'm going to have to get a TDI intake manifold....or so I thought

do you think I could just change the butterfly valve thingy that sits on top of the inlet manifold?

As the td's valve comes up out the manifold, then angles for the iron pipe to link between the Inlet and turbo, however, the TDI's valve just angles straight up vertical without the right angle bend, as its here between the intake manifold and turbo where the intercooler fits.

If I can just change the valve, it'll save changing the entire manifold, be cheaper too, I'm aware the valve bolts on and off the manifold, but I'm not sure if the fitmant is the same, or the holes in the manifold are a different shape, or if everything lines up

Any help would be appreciated

Yes just get a tdi manifold and throttle body, then remove the flap and seal holes with liquid metal

Throttle body, that's the word I was looking for:lol:doh, can I fit the tdi throttle body to the td manifold?

I don't know the answer, but they do say a picture is worth a thousand words...

here's the TD one, i don't think there's a difference where they mount but want another opinion :)

I'd "guess" your manifold will be the same, just without the mount points for the intercooler. I may even have my old TDi throttle body in my junk pile. I'll have a rumage for you :thumbs

thankies:D

All u need to know is the distance between bolts

are you going to turn up the pump a bit?

Also tell your insurance company? :lol

Are the fuel pumps adjustable? If so, are they adjustable on the TD (mine has been showing signs of over-fuelling - too much black smoke. I've done all the usual things, cleaned and subsequently replaced the injectors, cleaned and then removed the mini filter, run it with no air filter for a short time but the black smoke persists).
