filters

i have changed my fuel filter i now wish to change my air filter but when i checked on it the small filter to manifold/air flow seems damaged /dirty as well ,are these 2 filters easy to change:nenau as i am not a mechanic but not a complete plank either,and are these parts readily available for the t2 3.0di sve model,finaly how do i know which filters that are needed and does anyone suggest further filters that may need doing as i do not know the history of vehicle or service record.....

funny you should say that but when we had a junior section on here (many moons ago) my son was a member on here as 'splinter'!
