makes me want a new car to be able to play with this gadget lolol
very nice, wonder if it works and how durable it will be

looks good, however, it has one major problem if you want to use it on a pre 2002 petrol or pre 2004 diesel Terrano. It is:
OBD-II Hardware Interface

Not much use on a Terrano, but doubtless good with other/later vehicles.

yeah but it gave you a stiffie didn't it, admit it LMAO!:lol

More gadgets for the apple cult that errr sort of seemed like a good idea when you hit the purchase button :naughty:naughty:naughty:D:D:D

any idea how much? couldn't see a price....
about 200 AUD IIRC.. so somewhere in the 100 GBP region, plus shipping & tax.
Plus if you want to sell it to the wife it will work on the Micra too!

Hmmmm if Ray is still watching, it looks like these gizmos let you reset stuff as well.....any idea if they would work on a late BMW?

My Z4 ended up with a flat battery after I left it in the field for six months while I was in France and now the aircon and heated rear window don't work, apparently because its lapsed into 'transport mode' and I've got to do an 80-mile round trip plus £40 to the dealer to get it reset :doh:doh so spending a few squid on one of these might cover a multitide of sins?

wouldn't one of these be better?, at least you wont have to buy another phone and learn how to work it for the next 3 months. :doh:thumbs

Neither of those will work:

The DLC is proprietary as is uses Nissan Consult protocol.

ALL diesels after 2004 were required to be OBDII compliant.
The generic OBDII protocol, is just that, it really only extends to engine/emissions fault codes etc. So YES you will be able to examine/clear fault codes.

All of the "clever" stuff though is pretty much still manufacturer specific.

The device I have, VCDS allows detail changes on any VAG vehicle, such as changing when and how much water is dumped over the bonnet when using the headlight washers... plus lots lots more.

It also will function as a generic OBDII scan tool.
Which is pretty much what the majority of the boxes on ebay are.
If you just need to look at or clear OBDII fault codes, reset the service indicator etc. don't spend too much 50 quid is probably enough.

'transport mode' however sounds like it could well be BMW specific.

Thats what I was afraid of. Its apparently to stop electrical stuff from switching on in transit/storage and flattening the battery or burning stuff out.

O well.:(

Also, of course, to ensure that you go to a BMW dealer for one of their "free" coffee's while they rub there hands in glee at taking 40+quid off you for nearly ZERO work!
