THE WILTSHIRE MOONRAKERS
　
Now, I wuz born in Wiltshire,
Some sez that we be slow;
I’ll tell ye something, it be true,
It ‘appened long ago.
Living ‘ere in Wiltshire,
Wuz very, very ‘andy;
Twuz on the route to London,
For smugglin’ the brandy.
One night the Bow Street Runners came,
Our lot wore shepherds gowns.
"Cor blimey!" Laughed one runner,
"Bumpkins dressed as clowns!"
Now, they ‘ad ‘id the brandy,
In a pond near by,
And in the water shone the moon,
From yonder in the sky.
They all began a-rakin,
A-rakin at the moon;
The Bow Street Runners scratched their ‘eads,
There’d be a question soon.
"Why art thou raking in that pond,"
They ‘eard the leader wheeze.
"Ain’t it obvious!" They cried,
"We want that girt big cheese!"
The leader gave a snigger,
And turned ‘is ‘orse around;
The rest, they laughed and followed ‘im,
No doubt for London bound.
So now I asks this question,
Tell me, ‘ou wuz slow?
Them ‘ou wuz from Wiltshire,
Or them ‘ou wuz from Bow.
And if ye ever be this way,
Go a bit beyond;
The pool be in Devizes,
‘Tiz known as Crammer Pond
