Well the Mav failed it's MOT!
"Offside rear to front Brake Pipes excessively corroded"
"Offside rear to front Fuel pipes excessively corroded and chafed"
5 hours Labour
Parts
Plus VAT = Total £367.80

Good News is the mechanic says I've got a good solid Truck, apart from front bumper cross member.
He recommended having it steam cleaned and undersealed and it would "Last Forever" (Once the Brake & Fuel pipes are done!)

blimey thats expensive brake pipe is 20 quid and replace the fuel line with rubber all in the down loads simple jobs

yep what he said, i replaced both fuel lines with rubber from tank to bulkhead and did break lines all in less than a day with plenty of tea breaks

Yeh, trouble is I'm awaiting a date to have my collar bone taken out!
I had six-way heart by-pass surgery 5 years back.
It went wrong four times, then afterwards I always had a pain in my chest.
For the last two years I've been having trouble with my right collar bone "jumping out", six months ago they found a piece of wire from my heart surgery had worked it's way into my collar bone joint and severed through it.
They managed to get that out, but damage done is quite bad.
So anyway, now the Surgeon is going to cut a bit of the end, grind the sternum flat and hopefully when the scar tissue forms it'll form a cushion between the two!
I think my arm will be out of action for a few months until the scar tissue heals & Forms.

get quotes from other garages, u can do it over the phone as you know what needs done but theres no way it should cost that much :thumb2

remember guys this price is with vat and most garages charge loads for a hourly rate unless you live in mid/west wales.

So not amazingly high, But you should be able to get that price down.

5x Hours @ £55. = £275
parts @ £ 31.50

I know we are not all made of money, but sometimes for the convienience of a one stop shop, and you know it's done, especially if you have health problems, then if this is say all's you've spent in a year, then its has cos you £1:00 a day.

Sometimes we have to put our lives into perspective.

Would I pay this?

No I wouldn't, but then I have a nice warm and dry garage to work in at home.

Certainly get another quote, if not, challenge the garage, and say this can be done in 3 hours by... And get the price down.

Best regards,

Rustic
