Hi all
My Mistral failed the emmison test.It should have been below 3
but was 7. I put some Cataclean in and took it to Devon the week before..
I thought that would have got it ready for MOT.All advice will much apreciated.

Thanks

ive just started, been told to get a new fuel filter as it cleans all the crap out...

1) If it is due a cambelt change, then change it
2) Get a new air filter and fit it
3) Get some injector cleaner - the kind where you put a full can into the tank, Coma Diesel Magic or similar. Take it for a good hard blast to clean out the cobwebs.
4) Make sure the engine is hot when you take it for a re-test

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not just take it for a blast if it is or might be due a cambelt change. You just might cause some serious damage if you do.

They dont have cam belts, they're gear driven:D
Bung veggie oil in it , simples:thumbs

whats all this about veggie oil...explain!
There must be a hundred threads on it by now:doh
Do a search and all will become clear:thumbs
Basically, if you burn veggie oil there will be no emmissions:cool:

M.O.T Passed

Thanks for all your reply's they were very helpfull.
A great big thankyou to ANDREWK
I put ultimate diesal in from BP.I already had new air filter.
Then i put COMA DIESAL MAGIC in. I took it on the Motoway and put me foot down.
Also i put it in nuetral, took air filter off and revved it down to the floor.
I kept it running, right up to the M.O.T. retest and it sailed through the emission test.
I dont know what i would have done if i was'nt in the Nisson club.

if you seen a M.O.T test in Northern Ireland you understand why there is very few old vehicles on the roads and why some people even make the trip to Scotland to have there M.O.T test.

but i noticed that i never had to worry about emissions test as they never done it on my 96 Terrano and my 98 Terrano, so how come PALY needs one on a older make.

to me i thought it was more sense tested older vehicle then newer ones because the emmisions but i'm not complaining lol.
