Hello boys and girls, today I have been mainly making my version of extreme's raised air:augie Well it was persisting down:(
So I cut the roof a few weeks back and made a bonnet scoop fit the roof between screen and sunroof. There's not much room up there!
Glued it in with epoxy and filled it with P38 to get the shape I wanted(a bit like a scooby), and no it's not a taxi sign:augie
I used plastic rain water down pipe for the inside, nice n cheap, plus I had bits lying about:thumbs
Managed to get a good line down the pillar AND kept the air vent working:)
Under the dash is proper hard area to work through, but as I said it was rainin' So eventualy got the flexi pipe through just above where the A/C pipes go.
So if you got A/C DONT BOTHER WITH THIS MOD..........
I got the flexi off an old oil boiler Trinco if you're looking. Just the right size and reinforced etc:cool:
Modified the air box and bob's your fanny and your auntie er ...:nenau
Here be some pics and the rest of the sequence is on photobucket.
Enjoy:D

This is an utra cheap mod, but it is a challenge:sly
It took me about 7 hours:augie
But so much more cool than most snorkels I think:cool:

Awesome M8 :thumbs

I'll hopefully be doing mine but external on the 20/06/09 :sly :D

Hats off to ya M8 :clap

nasty stone chip !

I did a snorkel on my last maverick and it's easy:thumbs
When I get the head lining back up this will be kind a cool and unobtusive.
Inspired by Extreme, he did it first, but mine is sssmmmooootttthhhhh:naughty
Or at least it will be when it's painted etc
"Stone chip" nah, I er fell over in the thing, but dont go there............

SSHHH, just have spy at any old team wales threads:augie
You'll find it, but we dont condone that sort of behaviour anymore;)

You see all kids should be made to go to old skool scouts:D
With proper shorts and axes and fire and two rope bridges and wee on that rope sonny, yes skip !. None of this namby pamby health n bloody safety rubbish, grrr:eek:

Very neat. But are you still looking at doing comps? as you have to have a solid metal bulkhead between the habitical (as they call it, cockpit if you like) and the engine and intake etc

how is it for noise pete any benefit from going smooth

plenty of hoses and cable goes through the fire wall

Ah, well I was:augie
Mind you the local club that does these comps is hardly er, Wales Rally GB or whatever! Just a bunch who "compete" against each other on private land , I think. They're sort of careful and insist on "Roll over" cage thing. Not even the min. spec from what you said last time:augie
I'll find out though.
Maybe I could stick a big washer there if needed and stick a temp. intake up the out side:cool:
Ta for the warning

Noise at the moment sounds sweet:D
Didn't give it too much welly as the fibre glass wasn't cured , but I couldn't resist a quick blast:sly
I'll be wrapping it with some sort of sound proofer when I know all is well with it.
I think it'll be a while before the novelty wears off:naughty
Cheers for the idea mate:bow
Shmooooth:cool:

they do - the issues not the hole in the bulkhead but the lack of bulkhead between intake and driver/passenger.

My old man once got pulled on an event for 2 standard holes in the bulkhead - a piece of tape across got him a run - scruntineers are funny chaps. On eround here likes to see a cable tie round the brake fluid reservoir holding it down onto the master cylinder (most are just push fit and brake fluid is more dangerous than petrol) you can get away with other stuff with him if you have said cable tie.

only thing i'd add is some expanding foam under dash to hold rubber hose in place. cos it will vibrate loads and wear through against the fire wall

then you will either drown engine or ecu or both

bloody nice job though

I'm dreading it when he finds somewhere to test it :doh:doh

Oh well, at least all the water in the car will wash the gearbox oil out at last :augie:D:lol:lol

i know just the place

recovery is tricky...... just the place:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Not been in the wet yet but it's fine in the pissin' rain:thumbs
Sounds cool too, I'm sure it sounds like dump valve action is going on but I was told there isn't one diesels:augie
Anyway the kids love it:cool:
I'm going to stick one of those drip valve things in the low part off another air box, just incase:sly
Oh yeh I've got the flexi grometed now too(if that's a word)
